We are experienced in composite moulding. A process whereby a mould or component is made by layering a number of glass or carbon fibre pre-preg laminate into or on to the pattern, from there they are cured in the autoclave to create composite moulds that are strong and durable. Moulded parts come out perfectly shaped and require little to no finishing work.
The moulding of carbon and glass fibre is used to shape a large variety of complex shaped components such as car bodies and industrial fixtures due to the versatility of the composite material and the efficiency of the moulding process.
Our team is able to carry out composite laminating, the process is to hand lay multiple plies to permanently bond two or more materials together. The different materials are cured in order to make sure that components produced are strong, durable and reliable.
We use Carbon Fibre, one of the most common composite material, due to it being lightweight and highly versatile.
We understand that autoclave and oven curing are essential in creating tough and durable components. Autoclaves apply both heat and pressure onto a component in order to harden it, whilst ovens only apply heat enabling a coating or adhesive to set.
Our autoclaves and ovens are of the highest standards and our engineers have the necessary skills and experience to use them in producing high-performance components.
We do all our trimming and fitting by hand. We believe this ensures a higher quality finished product, along with minimising unacceptable defects and inaccuracies.
Hand trimming and fitting is usually done after the moulding process. During the process excess or undesired material is eliminated and holes, slots and any other special features are added to the component according to the client’s design.
Our team uses hand-held air compressor tools fitted with diamond coatings or carbide tips, to make sure that cuts through hard-cured carbon materials are precise and flawless.
At our manufacturing facility we have a specialised humidity-controlled bonding area, which is used to guarantee that trimmed components and parts are effectively bonded together. Controlling the humidity in the room ensures that glue is able to cure or harden properly, as there is a stable amount of moisture in the air.
